09/01/21: High school football games can be exciting. Today i went to one from the school my hostdad teaches in. For their first game they really maintained the dominance on the field and won against a more experienced team (21:8 for the Crusaders vs. the Seminoles of Florida State High School) 🏈

09/02/21: Today nothing much happened. Microbiology Class and Biology Lab went pretty good. I studied some time und took the Hyper Piper for a walk (it was more she walking me 🐢) In the picture you see the front porch of my house with the window of my room 🏑

09/03/21: Today i had some chicken salad from „Chicken Salat Chick“. Was really tasty and a new combination with the pickle πŸ˜‚ I also went to a neighborhood center to see if they need a volunteer. I’ll be starting to help them out with some tutoring next week 😊

09/04/21: Playing softball with my hostdad and the dog, Piper, wanted to join πŸ˜€

09/05/21: Wakulla Springs is the largest sweetwater spring in the whole world. It is connected to a series of underground tunnels, that reach far inside Florida. I enjoyed the boattrip i did with my host family πŸ™‚ saw some crocodiles, birds, plants and even manatees. And the water was crystal clear and refreshing. To end the day i watched „Jungle Cruise“ in a local theater. Today was a jungle day πŸ˜‚πŸŒ΄

09/06/21: Today was Labor Day. So no college at all. But I went to a blood donation center and donated 🩸i got a gift card and a t-shirt for that 🀩

09/07/21: Today i did my first hours for my volunteering. It’s helping kids with their homeworks and describing them where Germany is πŸ˜„

09/08/21: Let there be light, or maybe not πŸ˜‚ so today was a regular day, had my Biology lab and lecture. I also started a tutoring session over zoom with a 4th grade student. In the evening, as i was studying for an exam (tomorrowπŸ“š) there were two power blackouts. So in the first picture you can see the street in total darkness and then one minute later, the street light is shining again πŸ’‘πŸŒŸ

09/09/21: I’m now the Vice President of the International Students Organisation of TCC πŸ˜„πŸ—ΊοΈ I’m about to plan some activities for the ISO and their members πŸ˜€

09/10/21: This is the gym of the neighborhood center, where I volunteer. Today the kids where free to play in the gym πŸ˜„ I also drove around town because there were a lot of blocked streets due to some street partiesπŸ˜‚

09/12/21: Today I went to my first College Football game. Florida State University Seminoles vs. Jacksonville State Gamecocks (Alabama). It was a great game and a stunning performance from all the players and the bands πŸ‘πŸ˜. Unfortunately FSU lost 17-20, due to a fatal touchdown in the last six seconds. So I’ll need to go there again to see the Seminoles win

09/13/21: Open house in the neighborhood, and we’ve been there because it’s close to my host family’s house and we wanted to check out this nice house. Hopefully someone will buy it 🏑
If you’re wondering how much a one story house in this neighborhood of Tallahassee costs, it’s something about $350,000 😡
For a german there are be some new things you need to adapt toπŸ˜‚ the thin walls for example πŸ“„ or that there are no „Rolladen“πŸ˜‚ the windows can’t be „auf Kipp“, and so on…

09/13/21: Official announcement of me being the new Vice President of the International Students Organisation πŸ˜€

The second picture shows the music stands for the orchestra. Here they are already there and you don’t need to bring your own. German orchestra people might understand the problem when you sometimes forgot your stand and noone had a spare one, to lend for you.

09/014/21: Spam in all kinds of ways πŸ˜‚(like some WhatsApp groups πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) Today was another normal but busy day 😊 tutoring of 4th and 5th grade students. And teaching them how to round to the next hundreds, was pretty tough but worked out at the end πŸ“š

09/15/21: The room from the International Students Organisation i spent most of the day in today πŸ˜„ planning some events and doing tutoring over zoom from there. Luckily there is the opportunity to have such a room at my college 😊

09/16/21: Here you can see my lab class at work πŸ˜„πŸ”¬we did some diffusion experiments today.
In the second picture you can see my room for the next 2 days, as I’m at Santa Rosa Beach, Florida right now (with 1h time difference to Tallahassee) πŸ–οΈ

09/17/21: So many adventures happened today πŸ˜‚ first there was this flooded road, but no problem for me, the flooded trail ended there, because i didn’t want to swim in an alligator area 🐊🏊 i saw some funny looking moss today and went to a shopping mall (and a big fishing store). And finally i ended today with some chilling at the beach

09/19/21: This is the fountain of youth πŸ˜„ it’s the Ponce de Leon spring, but sadly covered with bacteria, so i didn’t went to swim and so I’m not younger πŸ˜‚
The waterfall is the highest in Florida, all in all 73 feet (22,25m). After that i went to the Florida Cavern State Park and took a tour through this old cavern. Really amazing experience 😍

09/19/21: Today the mother of my hostdad came for a visit all the way down from Huntsville, Alabama. We had a nice time, Mexican food and in the evening i went with my hostdad to another handbell rehearsal in a methodist church. Really great day πŸ˜ŠπŸ›ŽοΈ

09/20/21: With the streets named like this you could think this is Ireland πŸ˜„ and that’s some „german“ music we played in the orchestra today (i think it’s more Austrian πŸ˜‚)

09/21/21: Today i joined a millennial bingo game πŸ˜„ it was part of the Hispanic Heritage Month here at TCC. And apparently I’ve won a cool water bottle and some tasty sweets πŸ˜‹

09/22/21: Why 12:45pm you may ask. I had lab class at 12:20pm today. But this lab is very fast πŸ˜‚ make a quadrant streak with an unknown sample of bacteria, put it in the incubator and you are good to go. I also had an exam today, that also took only 15min, because the question were really simple πŸ˜‚ so i spend a total of 35 min in lecture today

09/23/21: Look at that lazy dog, chilling on the couch πŸ˜‚ soo cute 😊 this is the first thing I see everyday after waking up and coming down into the living room πŸ˜„ Piper, the wiener, relaxing on the couch

09/24/21: On the outside were some sorority girls having fun and inside the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall there was the FSU Wind Orchestra showing an amazing performance πŸ‘ was nice to see such talented musicians. Let’s see how the TCC orchestra will perform on our concert in december 🎷

09/25/21: Today i did some volunteering at the FSU game ☺️ it was a good experience and fun selling drinks to all the people. I even met some Germans πŸ˜‚ and i got to be in the stadium even before everyone else and also at the place where the players are coming inπŸ˜„πŸŸοΈ

09/26/21: Today was another busy study day. Did an online exam and some research about a „Microbes and Me Project: How microorganisms affect mental health“. Then I played some Frisbee with my hostsister in the backyard of the house. Somehow Piper (πŸ•) crawled under the fence today and went loose. But luckily we could catch here and closed the fence

09/27/21: I saw this fellow today at the TCC campus πŸ˜€ they are everywhere here. Small and little one rushing all over the pathways 🦎 besides spiders, squirrels, mosquitos and birds these are the other animals i see a lot around here

09/28/21: Soon it will be Halloween (in a month), but you can already buy pretty cool decorations πŸ˜„ on the second picture you can see the classroom I’m doing my tutoring in. And you can see the backpacks of the guys are different to the girls. Was just fun to see in this situation πŸ‘§πŸ‘¦

09/29/21: That’s what I am currently doing in my Biology lab πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬

It is an enterotube, which has different chambers with different reactions inside. So if a bacteria can digest glucose for example the first chamber will turn from original red to yellow (as you can see in the picture), because the bacteria digests the sugar which will make the color change. With this tube I can determine which bacteria I worked with πŸ”¬

In the second picture you can see E.coli growing on an Eosin methylene blue plate. It will change the color to this metallic green because it’s reacting with the dyes inside the plate 🧫

Today I also held a proposal at the Student Government Association of TCC, to get funding for the volunteering opportunity I’ve been planing for ♻️

09/30/21: Today i visited the first Aldi here in the USA. It looked quite similar to the German one, but for example the avocado only costed 79cent (i think they are more expensive in Germany πŸ₯‘) and they had Cola in 2L bottles but water only in 0.5L πŸ˜‚ and the other main thing i did was repairing my car key πŸ—οΈπŸš™
