Das Warten auf die Platzierungsmail ist wahrscheinlich mit die stressigste Zeit f\u00fcr einen PPPler. So war auch ich nicht anders. Die Fragen „Wo komme ich hin?“ oder „Was mache ich, wenn ich erst sehr kurzfristig eine Info krieg?“ gingen mehr als nur das eine oder andere Mal durch meinen Kopf, aber da kann und konnte ich ja nichts dran machen. Also habe ich versucht mir diese Gedankenkr\u00e4merei zu ersparen und hab einfach abgewartet.<\/p>\n
Ich hatte au\u00dferdem das Gl\u00fcck mit zu den ersten PPPlern zu geh\u00f6ren, die in der „ersten Flut“ an Platzierungen, eine Info bekommen.<\/p>\n
F\u00fcr mich geht es nach Bluefield, West Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n

Und ja ich wei\u00df woran wahrscheinlich jeder jetzt im ersten Moment dran denkt – Country Roads, Take me home, to the Place… (Danke John Denver, dass mir das Lied wahrscheinlich das gesamte n\u00e4chste Jahr im Kopf bleiben wird. (Ist ja schlie\u00dflich die offizielle Staatshymne))<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ich werde also aus dem einen Land der tausend Berge ins n\u00e4chste ziehen. Schlie\u00dflich ist der Spitzname f\u00fcr West Virginians „Mountaineers“. Die Landschaft ist dem Sauerland au\u00dferdem recht \u00e4hnlich, viel Wald, sehr viel Weite und seeehr wenig Menschen (Zum Vergleich: West Virginia ist knapp doppelt so gro\u00df wie NRW und hat nur 10% der Einwohner…). Des Weiteren finde ich das Staatsmotto auch \u00e4u\u00dferst interessant: „Montani Semper Liberi“ oder zu deutsch: „Bergbewohner sind immer frei“. Es musste wohl auch von Anfang an West Virginia werden, denn dort ist der 20. Juni (mein Geburtstag) ein Feiertag, da sich am 20. Juni 1863 West Virginia von Virginia und den S\u00fcdstaaten abgespalten hat und der Union (den Nordstaaten) beigetreten ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Und sonst? Was ging mir so nach der Platzierung durch den Kopf? Ich dachte an den Fakt, dass West Virginia der zweit\u00e4rmste der 50 Bundesstaaten ist, ich dachte daran, dass West Virginia energetisch noch sehr abh\u00e4ngig von der Kohle ist und vor allem dachte ich daran, dass Donald Trump in dem Bundesstaat bei den letzten beiden Wahlen jeweils deutliche Mehrheiten hinter sich wissen konnte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Und dann hab ich mich gefragt „Was hat West Virginia denn noch so?“. Herausgekommen ist in erster Linie: Natur. West Virginia ist f\u00fcr seine Nat\u00fcrlichkeit bekannt und lebt zu einem Gros vom Naturtourismus (F\u00fcr mich ein ganz dezenter Widerspruch mit dem vorherrschenden Kohlebergbau). Dort kann man auf \u00fcber 50.000 km Bach und Fluss rudern oder raften, auf zigtausend Kilometern Wander oder Mountain biken, eine ATV-Tour machen (Ich kann aus Erfahrung sagen, die Dinger sind einfach nur geil!!) oder jagen (Ich darf also hoffen dort amerikanische Jagderfahrung sammeln zu k\u00f6nnen ;D ).<\/p>\n\n\n\nEin kleines Beispiel f\u00fcr die Natur in West Virginia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
